A Few Intriguing Trailers
There are a lot of movies I am looking forward to seeing in the near future. Some have already hit, but for the rest here are some trailers and my thoughts.
The Tracey Fragments

Starring Ellen Page (Juno), The Tracey Fragments looks like a very interesting film. This is one that definitely will appeal to a select group, but as a video editor it looks awesome. Why? The footage took only two weeks or so to shoot, then took nine months to edit. Yes, the whole movie is cut like the trailer, with various blocks of video going on at once. It is really this technical aspect that makes the movie appeal to me.
Four Minutes

Four Minutes is a foreign film that blew me away with its trailer. The story follows a young girl who was convicted of a murder, and an old piano teacher who tries to bring out the brilliant pianist inside the girl. It looks intense.
Roman de Gare

As long as we are talking foreign films, let me mention the latest from Claude Lelouch. Roman de Gare looks to be a slightly tilted take on the suspense formula. I do not really know anything about it other than what is within the trailer, but it intrigued me enough to warrant a ticket. Even though it released in April, I have not seen any showings near me. Hopefully it gets a wider release during the summer.
The Spirit

More a teaser than an actual full trailer, the clip still makes me excited for Frank Miller’s upcoming film The Spirit. The visual style looks similar to Sin City, but the human movement in the teaser gives it an even heavier comic book vibe. I do not know anything about the source material or the story, but I really like the visual style of the movie. This one is not coming out for a while, but I thought I would mention it because of how effective it was in gaining my interest.
The Fall

The Fall has been one of my most anticipated movies since I saw the trailer about a month or two ago. The trailer definitely gives away too much about the story (unless I am really bad at guessing), but what really grabbed my attention were the visuals. Regardless of characters or plot, The Fall has a very creative presentation with a ton of memorable sights from the two minute trailer alone. Notice the way the “villain” in white is cut to the sand just before the halfway point. The multiple staircases with synchronized walkers is another example of the superb visuals. The Fall just released last week, but again it is limited at this point. I really hope to experience this one over the summer.
There you have it, a few trailers to whet your appetite for some new cinema. I plan on doing a specific summer preview of movies soon. For now though, what do you think of these trailers? Do they make you interested in any of the films I have mentioned?

why i had to tell you i was going to comment shortly is beyond me, also why i’m typing this and still not responding yet.
i dont really have any interest in see the fall or the spirit. the others i have at least some interest after seeing the trailors. I think roman de gare looks the best out of all of these movies and actually really interests me. It looks like it would keep me at the edge of my seat and i hope it lives up to my expectations. the lesbian action in four minutes is a little unexpected and not exactly appreciated haha, unnecessary in my book. the tracey fragments looks decent at best. i feel that i would come out of the movie not disappointed but not raving and wanting to see it again with friends. I think the cinematography could get quite annoying at times because it can be hard to focus.
no no no no
@mark: It is interesting that you said you have no interest in The Fall or The Spirit because I would probably want to see both of those more than the others. The only exception I would make is Roman de Gare, which I think I could put slightly behind The Fall on my anticipation list.
As for Tracey, I agree it is not going to be a rave review movie. It seems more of an experiment in film, but if nothing else I know I will be blown away by the editing.
some of these movies looked interesting, lesbian killer pianist one not so much, but i thought they seemed very original. the spirit might be a huge failure but it was the most intriguing trailor by far.
I absolutely disagree with Mark. The Fall and The Spirit are the only ones on that list I have an interest in seeing, and I have a very big interest in both of them. The other movies look horrible. The Spirit, Frank Miller, enough said. As I was reading this I was literally going to say “You should put The Fall on here.”. However, this was before scrolling down to see it on the list. The visuals look amazing, and I think that there will be some kind of twist in it.
they all look sweet. i dont know about the roman de gare one tho. and id have to have like a month between movies they look kinda depressing
Mark seems to have the right idea. The fall doesn’t look interesting to me at all.
