Kobe Bryant: Guitar Hero +

Absolutely love this commercial. It also features Alex Rodriguez, Michael Phelps, and Tony Hawk, but Kobe steals the show.

On Greg Oden’s Debut +

Greg Oden, the overall number one pick in the 2007 NBA draft, made his debut last night. Unfortunately, his first NBA game was cut short by injury. After playing with a broken hand for part of his college career and missing all of last season after knee surgery, this injury is not a good sign.

I, like most, am rooting for Oden’s success. I just hope his body can hold up at this level of competition. If he remains this fragile for his career it will be a shame, because when healthy he has the potential to be a Hall of Fame center.

Oh Snap +

I cannot find the exact stat but it was something to the tune of the following: Roethlisberger dropped back 36 times, was sacked 4 times and was hit 18 times. That means over 50% of his dropbacks the defense is getting through.

Add that to the injury to long snapper Greg Warren which led to the Harrison instant safety snap and…well it is not hard to see why the Giants were able to come back. If we had an offensive line there is absolutely no question in my mind that the Pittsburgh Steelers would be the best team in the NFL.

No Fine This Week for Hines Ward +

This is good news considering Ward has been writing checks to Goodell the past few weeks just for playing hard football. It was a legal hit and each week Ward proves he is the toughest wide receiver in the league. He is also arguably the best blocking receiver in the history of the NFL.

If you are not aware of the controversy surrounding the block, check out the debate on it from Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption. This also relates to Polamalu’s comments last week, which were discussed on PTI Monday.

Polamalu Calls Out the NFL +

Polamalu said that football’s essence is being taken away with the NFL’s heavy-handed penalties, saying football ‘just loses so much of its essence when it becomes like a pansy game.’

I could not have said it better myself.

Links Plus Plus

The title, while riddled with layers of computer science puns, is actually very descriptive. I have added plus signs to links, to make the site less confusing. If you click on the title of a post it will take you to the single post page just as it does with normal posts. If you want to visit the link I am talking about, just click the plus sign. I think this is an improvement and makes things more consistent. Let me know what you think.
