A Late Introduction to Hulu

Though it has been around for a while, I recently discovered multimedia site Hulu. The site has a large amount of television and movies for users to enjoy free of charge. Legally.

Hulu.com is a venture by NBC Universal and News Corp. to provide online videos for its users. NBC has been offering full episodes of their shows on their website for a long time. I catch up on The Office via its website often. Hulu though, is a much broader offering. There are programs from both NBC and Fox, as well as several other networks.

There are several factors that make Hulu a joy to use. It has a substantial amount of television and film content. Its simple and elegant design makes it easy to find what you want, and places the video itself as the focus. There are very few distractions, which means you can find what you want to watch and start nearly instantly. The quality is also impressive, a large step up from standard internet video.

Of course, none of this matters if there is nothing to watch. Luckily I have found plenty of choice programming available on Hulu. Here are some highlights:

NBA on Hulu

The Hulu NBA section has a ton of content for fans of the league. Not only can you watch full playoffs games, but there are other sections for those who just want highlights or top plays. You can subscribe to each individual section and subscribe to it if you would like.

There is also a section for the NHL containing a ton of content including full playoff games.

There are a ton of great shows available to watch on Hulu, including:

…rather than me listing my favorite shows, just head over to the popular TV section and check out all the available content. You are sure to find one of your current or old favorites. However I must mention the availability of full episodes of Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Excellence.

There are a few brief interruptions with either ad-space or potential ad-space. A small price to pay for this amount of television.

Hulu also has a selection of movies, though I do not feel the selection is as strong as the TV. There are some gems hidden though, such as The Usual Suspects and The Big Lebowski (Service Announcement: Both rated R, parents talk to your kids).

This post was sort of all over the place, but the point was to (hopefully) show you a useful entertainment site that you might not have known about. Free to sign up, hope you enjoy. If nothing else catch a few episodes of a show you missed and my job will be accomplished. After checking out the site, let me know your thoughts in the comments.

  1. Dude, mad props for posting this. This site has, in one night, changed my life forever.

  2. hulu has been listed on my links for like 4 months lol

  3. I’m always surprised at how many people DON’T know about hulu considering how content-rich it is. Streaming video quality is unsurpassed, yet Hulu currently only has ~4% of online video market share. Hopefully more people will drink the kool-aid.

  4. this site is great to watch Saturday night live clips without commercials, it makes the show way more entertaining, and i think i have watched every snl clip the site has to offer

  5. i love this site, i started off watching the office on it and recently have been watching SNL clips. i have found a few clips that i think are genius such as all the kaitlin clips and the mcgruber clips. haha

  6. @Brian I am not sure any of my previous posts has had such a dramatic effect on a person. Glad to be of service.

I am glad everyone enjoys the site, if this is your first time viewing it or you have been using it for a while. Spread the word, because the more traffic the more content will get put on there.

  7. or maybe with more traffic prices come into play. i do remember seeing this on xane’s site, but i never went to it. i hope this turns out to be as useful as you speak of. quicksilverscreen was awesome for movies until stage6 was removed.

  8. Yeah watched the girl next door on the site the other day, pretty good quality. It has potential, I wanted to check it out the first time it came out and it was invite only so I kinda forgot about it till like two weeks ago

  9. Justin Cady and his amazing Internet Time Machine!

  10. Hulu is simply the greatest site on the internet today. Every Always Sunny in Philidelphia episode and links to every South Park episode makes the site worth it by itself. Throw in the fact that they post new NBC and FOX shows about a week after they air and their has never been a greater site ever.
