Superbowl 42: The Commercials
As promised here are my top five Superbowl commercials. I can promise with some degree of certainty that this will be my last post about the Superbowl.
5. Horsin’ Around with Shaq
The Shaq ad was pretty funny. The thought of Shaq running with Phoenix is funnier. Maybe this trade is also just an ad for Vitamin Water…
4. Glondoor Stone Circle
It was the best of the Cars.com “Plan B” commercials, and actually was pretty funny. “You might want to step outside the ring…to avoid any confusion” seals the deal.
3. WALL-E
I love Pixar. I am looking forward to WALL-E. The infinity and beyond joke was funny. Enough said.
2. Bud Light Wine and Cheese Party
Budweiser usually brings a stronger game, but even their weaker stuff is usually pretty good. The wine and cheese party turned out to be one of the more well thought out commercials of an evening full of crude and random spots…
1. Mouse Trap
…but random is not always a bad thing. The Dorito’s mouse trap commercial was in my mind the best of the night far and away.
I think we all know that this year the commercials were pretty weak in comparison to previous years. Even this top five list is not that great. The fact that the game was so good might have been a factor, because I wanted to see the game so much. Each commercial therefore became an exercise in patience. Lastly, the E-Trade baby commercials are just weird. Not funny, just weird. Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and cry with me as we close out another NFL season (the Pro Bowl is a joke).

2 and 1 are the only funny commercials in your top 5. I wouldn’t rank either of them 1 and 2 though and i would definitely have Bud Light ranked higher than Mouse Trap. I disagree with you about the E-Trade baby commercials. Specifically the first one, which was hilarious. Also, I am blown away that you did not put the Tide Talking Stain in your top 5. This was easily one of the funniest, if not the number 1 best commercial of the Superbowl. Watch that commercial again and listen closely to the hilarity of noises the stain makes.

I think the will ferrel Jackie moon commercial was heelarious, even if it is the same character he does in every movie, it cracks me up. the stain was definiety funny as well. Worst commercial- was that carmen electra thing, that was horrible.

The commercials for the Superbowl this year were not good. The quality has worsened over the years. Superbowl commercials are definitely over anticipated. I don’t get excited to watch advertisements.
The game, on the other hand, was good.

I agree with Bean about the Budlight commercials with Will Ferrel, they were funny, especially the last one. Also, Buck is correct about the commercials for the Superbowl. I too look forward to the game, not the advertisements.

I agree that the mousetrap was #1. that one had me LOLing for real.
