Film Review: Mission Impossible 3
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to read my opinions on the final iteration of the Mission Impossible movie series. MI3 once again presents offscreen psycho Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, espionage extraordinaire, in an exciting, action-packed two hours of international intrigue and explosion.
Action is really the perfect word to sum up this movie. Throughout the film, you’ll be lucky if you go five minutes without something or someone blowing up; but it works. Whether a tense infiltration scene, or an all-out firefight, you’ll be consistently entertained for the film’s entire duration.
I thought the acting really set this movie a cut above the standard summer action flick. Cruise gives a great performance, and he is matched by the villain. Played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who simply ignites the screen with his utterly perfect portrayal of an evil human being. I can’t remember anyone in recent memory playing the bad guy so well, and the movie benefits highly from his talent.
The story will keep you on the edge of your seat, the action will keep your adrenaline flowing, and my complaints are few. A few vague plot points and some miscues here and there are the only problems I can see. Really, everything in the movie was at least good, and the majority of it is great, therefore I must score it highly. Mission Impossible 3 is much more action-oriented that the first two films, and leagues ahead of the disappointing MI2. It is definitely worth a viewing.
8/10
